Emmanuel Camacho Larios (he/they) is a first-generation borderless Artist born in Jalisco, Mexico, in 2000 and residing in Los Angeles, CA. Emmanuel is a fine multimedia artist who creates social, political, and personal artworks. He has exhibited and curated multiple works throughout California, including galleries throughout the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, and the University of California Davis. Emmanuel is a co-founder and co-director of MERGE performance art collective. He has been awarded and nominated for his excellence in sculpture, performance, and community engagement. In addition, Emmanuel has collaborated in seminars with renowned artists through the California Studio, also housed at the University of California Davis. 

 

Emmanuel received his bachelor of arts in Art Studio and Chicana Chicano Studies at the University of California, Davis, in 2023.

2023

Cecilia Alemani

  • A collaborative seminar with renowned curator Cecilia Alemani ( curator of the 2022 Venice Biennale and New York HighLine), where we developed artists' statements and artists' CVs for a proposed Venice Biennale show. We received the curator’s perspectives on creating pitches for art exhibitions.

Fall 2022

Xu Bing (The California Studio)

  • A collaborative seminar with renowned artist Xu Bing (winner of the MacArthur Fellowship), where we developed conversations about sourcing information and material for our work, as well as creating video artworks that were critiqued.

Spring  2022

Ann Hamilton and Michael Mercil (The California Studio)

  • A week-long seminar with renowned artists Ann Hamilton (winner of the MacArthur Fellowship) and Michael Mercil that transpired across the UC campus. The attendants were asked to develop questions about the importance of creating artwork in our environment and space. 

Fall 2021

Raúl De Nieves (The California Studio)

  • A month-long seminar in which students received a performance masterclass from artist Raul de Nieves (recipient of the Whitney Biennial). A culmination of setup and practice was showcased at the Wyatt Pavilion that fall.
